Andrew Macintyre
Director and Chartered Financial PlannerAndrew at work
I began my career just before the collapse of the tech bubble in 1999, at the height of the dot-com boom. It was a steep learning curve and a valuable one. I saw how quickly confidence can shift, how markets behave under stress, and how investors, myself included, react when things do not go to plan.
Since then, I have worked through every major market event of the past two decades. That includes the global financial crisis, the eurozone debt crisis, years of ultra-low interest rates, Brexit, the COVID-19 pandemic, the return of inflation, and the sharp rise in interest rates that followed. I have not only managed my own investments through those cycles, but helped hundreds of individuals, families, business owners and trustees navigate their financial lives through them too. Experience like that teaches lessons you will not find in textbooks. It sharpens judgement, shows the pitfalls to avoid, and proves that good financial planning is as much about behaviour as it is about numbers.
My qualifications include Chartered Financial Planner status, but technical expertise is just the starting point. My background covers pensions and tax planning with leading insurers, as well as investment management. Earlier in my career, I worked as an independent financial adviser and sat on the fund research and investment committee of a national advice firm. I was responsible for assessing, monitoring and selecting fund managers overseeing more than £1.3 billion in client assets. My own client portfolio at the time exceeded £170 million, working with a diverse mix of individuals, SME owners, trustees and charities.
This breadth of experience means I bring both depth and perspective. I understand the detail - tax rules, investment structures, regulatory frameworks - but I also know how to apply that knowledge in the real world. Financial decisions do not exist in isolation. They sit alongside career moves, family plans, business challenges and long-term goals. My role is to help people make sense of it all, put structure around their decisions, and stay prepared for whatever comes next.
Good planning does not take control away from people. It gives them more of it. My aim is to help clients feel informed, organised and in charge of their financial direction, with a strategy that is robust, flexible and truly aligned to how they want to live.
